I’ll be honest. Lately, I’ve felt a little worn down with Daisy, and slowly, I come to think I’ve done come to think I’ve done almost everything I wanted to do with the character at Luceti. There are a handful of things I still want to do with her, but for the most part, I’ve been eager to try something new.

While I love my Spartans and adore having them grow, evolve, and go through the stories me and other muns put them in, I think I have explored a lot of them so far and should let them both have a break so I can try something new. John and Daisy have been my biggest muses in Journal RP, but now I think I should try a new role. I’m not abandoning either character, but I’m suffering a bit of a burnout, and I’ve come to miss the feeling of a fresh new character in a whole new world, along with the growth that comes with it.

Think of it... in the same way you create a character in a computer RPG or in a tabletop game: After you’ve finished all quests for that character and roleplayed them for a while, eventually you desire to start over with someone new to have a new set of choices, powers, and actions, and once again feel the charm of the world being huge, dangerous, and at the same time full of adventure for you to grow.

While I constantly get the temptation to app certain characters, I’m picky in who I actually app. If I app someone, it’s usually because I’m ready to go all the way with them. I’m a bit of a lazy app-writer that nonetheless throws a huge wall of text, so for me the effort has to count. That, and after having to work full time, I’m afraid it’s harder for me to juggle more than three characters.

Biggest thing will be: How will they grow? How will it be as clear and as far-reaching as it was for my Spartans?

Preferably an apprentice one:

-John-117 fills a mentor role for a lot of characters, is hands-down the deadliest warrior of his universe (competing against the Didact, who was too pretty to dirty his hands with humans, eww), and had room of his own to grow when it concerns his humanity. While he was an older character, he was not averse to continue learning, and less so with what is happening right now with his world.

After being outside of his world, he developed a “Seen It All” way of viewing things regarding ancient advanced genocidal aliens, magical girls, parasites seeking to consume the universe, nexii housing hundreds of heroes of different worlds, among other things. He has become powerful, but also older and wiser.

His growth was based on finding a meaning to his life after saving his world, and the evolution of a person when he leaves home.

-Daisy-023 was in the middle of the road, completely clueless to the casual matters of life and especially her inner turmoil; but absolutely capable on warfare, intelligent enough to be part of the movers, and looked upon by friends of hers, and was very much able to learn from everything.

Daisy was first broken by the events of Luceti Valley, and for a time doubted if her desire to readapt was worth it, but Valvalis and friends brought her back from the brink, and allowed her to know how to live. Because of this, she’s taken something of an older sister role to some characters, while at the same time knowing she needs to continuously evolve.

Her growth was based on the path to social readaptation and the importance of family, but also of the conflict of home versus identity.

-This new character, to make things varied, I would like for him/her to take the apprentice role. In the hero’s journey, the one that just passes the threshold and is given these powers all of a sudden, but needs guidance and confidence.

There is going to be fear, but perhaps also looking up to somebody stronger, to do these amazing things someday and help others. It seems I am driven by altruists, so a similar character would be adequate: While clearly being much more naive and innocent than Daisy or John, I’d also like for growth that allows him/her to keep it, while understanding the world all the same.

I’m almost tempted to pick a too normal character, even from a slice-of-life one, for whom the circumstances around going through universes basically forces him/her to become a hero. Naturally, since this would change the character a lot, this would probably be for a PSL or something.

Canon points? I’d be tempted to app them at their earliest beginnings in canon, again, to make their stories and growth different.

Brave - Merida

Honestly I didn’t like the film that much, but the potential for an adventurer is there as clear as water, and thus can be written as such. After either sorting things out with her mum, or something going much differently after getting into their heated discussion, she could start her own journey to be a heroine. Likewise, her journey can be either limited to her own world, or in others. Fantasy crossovers would be fascinating to do, as well as playing with the fact she is a runaway princess, though will see if she’d hide her status or flaunt it.

While I like the idea of a HTTYD/Brave/Tangled/ROTG crossover, I’d prefer it to exist in a way they were all from entirely different kingdoms they only barely heard of one another, and some of them enemies! Another problem is that they’re from different centuries (Brave was set in the 10th, while HTTYD was in the 11th, but we can stretch things a bit) Merida could perhaps stumble upon Hiccup, vikings, and DRAGONS. Unfortunately for her, none of them are friendly! It’d still open opportunities for CR if she stumbles upon them.

... Holy hell. Now I get the temptation to toss her into Skyrim as well in some manner. Sod these dragons and the Dragonborn. When she finishes her journey from apprentice to hero, Merida will be there to fuck your shit. SHE will be the one dragons will fear.

Apprentice

Cardcaptor Sakura - Sakura Kinomoto

Young, naive, and idealistic, but at the same time afraid and immature, which could be a lot of fun in writing her adventures. Will have to watch her full series to know what kind of things does she face, and how would she originally grow.

Apprentice at early start.

Haiyore! Nyarko-san! - Nyarlathotep

The chaos that crawls up to you with a smile. Hilarious, hyperactive, running on a permanent sugar high, but my problem is that I tend to struggle with characters that are mostly comedic.

Just insane.

Halo - Damon Rarey (Halo OC, Crimson Team AU. Young adult that enlisted after the events of Halo 4 and was picked for the SPARTAN-IV Project, in a desire to honor his deceased father and in huge admiration towards the Master Chief.)

Initially thought of as something for my Project: LAEVATEINN Halo AU, in which he can become a Spartan almost completely green, but with the powers and resources that could still turn him into a very capable one, especially by holding on to the same ideals, albeit in a more naive manner.

Apprentice

Illborn - Fateen (OC, anthropomorphic cheetah set near 1492 that is something of a snarky thief caught up with the matters of gods against his will, from a comedic setting.)

A general sod that relies on wits more than powers, living in a mostly crazy world, but willing to follow those that are smart and are there to save the world. While he’s used to be something of a loner that has gotten used to learn things on his own, for him, intelligence is intelligence, and wisdom is wisdom, which is what a lot of beings lack in his world - even the gods.

Middle of the road, but capable of being apprentice.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Last Dragonborn (Going from Criminal Thief, then to Honorable Warrior, and finally to Wise Mage).

Thought of this for a moment, but the dragonborn is too power-driven and sometimes amoral to work well with what I had in mind.

Middle of the road to Mentor.

Sailor Moon (manga) - Mizuno Ami

This character has interested me because of her intelligence, her innocence and dependence on her friends, and flexibility. One kind of characters I’ve noticed I like playing are smart ones, that get to challenge me in learning, in what would they do in certain scenarios, as... well, I’m going to be honest, they tend to be swiss army knives for both problem-solving, plot-making, and emotional things.

Need to read the full manga, but again, will see what kind of road could she take, and what kind of AU, perhaps, she could have.

Apprentice

Sailor Moon (manga) - Usagi Tsukino

Been starting, and this character has been utterly hilarious. Ironically, she may be the most alike to John and Daisy in terms of idealism and wanting to save everyone, but her naivette may actually be something interesting to play with and develop. However, as she is a main character and a leader of sorts, I wonder what kind of playing would this character involve, as she wouldn’t precisely be an apprentice.

Apprentice? Middle of the road given her leadership and innocence?

PMMM - Tomoe Mami

A prim, delicate, elegant lady that can utterly destroy you with a volley of muskets. There’s trouble with the ordeal of what Puella Magi really are, in which she utterly snaps. Even if I apped her from the new universe, I’m afraid I don’t know where would I go, since her loneliness is solved there, and she’s still the girls’ mentor.

Mentor by her point in canon.
